  • Fill up the application form (Download it or contact Post Office)
  • Attach photo copy of citizenship or passport along with appliction form for personal use.
  • Attach organization registered certificate with official stamp for official use.
  • Stick 10 Rs. Stamp in application form.

Renewal

Post Box must be renewed on Shrawan by paying yearly charge. Post Box can be renewed for 1 to 5 years. After Shrawan, Post Box can be renewed by paying Late fee. If Post Box is not renewed within the specified renewal period, Post Box will be cancelled at any time.

  • 25% of yearly charge as Late fee for upto Bhadra and Ashwin.
  • 50% of yearly chage as Late fee for upto KartikMangsir and Poush.
  • 75% of yearly charge as Late fee for upto MaghFalgun and Chaitra.
  • 100% of yearly charge as Late fee for upto BaisakhJestha and Ashad.

About Sadar Syaha & Deposit Refund:

If Post Box is not renewed within the specified renewal period, Post Box will be cancelled by deducting yearly charge from Deposit Amount (Dharauti Rakam), which is known as "Sadar Syaha". The "Sadar Syaha" is done either automatically or manually. The cancelled Post Box can be distributed to new customer at any time.

  • To do "Sadar Syaha" automatically:

         This type of "Sadar Syaha" is done if Post Box has expired (due to being not renewed within the specified renewal period). In this case, Post Box will be cancelled automatically without Deposit Refund. The Process of this "Sadar Syaha" is shown in the table below:

  • To do "Sadar Syaha" manually:

         This type of "Sadar Syaha" is done if Post Box has not been renewed within the specified renewal period and it has not expired. In this case, Post Box will be cancelled if anyone wants to leave Post Box within the renewal period. The Process of this "Sadar Syaha" is shown in the table below (for Small P.B.):

    Note:-

    • For Large and Medium, see the table "Post Box Renewal Charge (in Rs.)".

    • Full Deposit Amount will be refunded if Post Box has been renewed on each Fiscal Year.

    • Sadar Syaha (Rs.) + Refund (Rs.) = Deposit Amount (Rs.)


Other Information:

  • While visiting Post Office to check Post Box, you should bring key and Post Box ID Card.

  • If key or Post Box ID is lost, related person should submit application with identity.

  • While receiving documents like D.V./TOEFL/IELTS, one should come with identity.

  • A person's Post Box will not be transferred to any other person.

  • One should not import other person's personal documents in his/her Post Box. Post Office will not be responsible for documents imported in this way.

  • Post Office will not be responsible for postal materials lost due to use of Post Box by maximum number of persons.

  • Postal materials will be sent back to the sender if not received within 15 days.

Online Post Box

Registration (From 2069/070)

GPO has provided Online Post Box Service from January 1st, 2007. Through this service, you can know whether your documents (e.g., letters, etc.) has arrived into your Post Box or not. After Post Box has been registered, you can take Online Post Box Service at any time. When you register this service, it is valid upto one year from the registration date.
